The
son of one of LA’s most prominent studio musicians, Dana Kaproff
was literally raised in the Los Angeles music scene. After having
done his undergraduate and post graduate work at both UCLA and Berkeley,
he went on to study classical composition with many notable contemporary
composers including George Tremblay, Andrew Imbrie, and Paul Chihara.
Having
always had a lifelong affection for cinema, Kaproff chose to begin
his film scoring career by apprenticing with such Hollywood giants
as Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, and John Barry. He has subsequently
gone on to score close to a hundred theatrical, cable, and television
movies, as well as countless series, mini-series, and documentaries.
His credits include multiple assignments for Paramount, Universal,
FOX, Columbia/ Tristar, Time Warner, CBS, NBC, ABC, HBO, Showtime,
PBS, National Geographic, USA Networks, Lifetime, and Entertainment
Tonight.
In
addition to his film and commercial work, Kaproff has recently turned
his attentions to the recording industry, and is quickly becoming
one of the hottest new songwriters to burst upon today’s music
scene. Although classically trained, he has always remained true
to his roots in the rock/ pop/ R&B world. Recently, he supplied
half of the new tunes included for the latest Shirley Bassey album
“Thank You For The Years”. He is also producing tracks
for upcoming albums by Dianne Arkenstone, Bianca Rossini, Bri Cuoco,
and Jon Hall.
After
having been involved with marrying cutting edge music technology
and visuals for so many years, it was destined to be part of Kaproff’s
natural artistic evolution to look to the Internet for new possibilities
in this regard. With the creation of his own Internet company, audioRiot.com,
he has officially done just that. Hoping to bring his special creative
sensibilities, time tested professionalism, and hi-tech facilities
into play in the online arena, Kaproff is seeking to position his
company as a major outsource supplier of original music, and sound
design, to high-end website designers worldwide.
Mr.
Kaproff currently resides in Southern California. Aside from his
ongoing work as composer, songwriter, and producer, he continues
his involvement with the motion picture community by serving on
the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Science’s Music Branch
Executive Committee. He also runs his own publishing company, Mi
Myoozik Publishing, and gives occasional lectures about the music
business at various corporate functions, schools, and universities.
